ANNOUNCEMENT
To all our customers concerned with the consumption of our products NUTI-LOAF, NUTEE SUPREME AND PROTEINUT, we declare:
THAT IT IS COMPLETELY SAFE TO CONSUME THESE PRODUCTS, MADE WITH PEANUTS AND/OR PEANUT BUTTER. The outbreak of salmonella detected by FDA during the month of January, 2009, was caused by peanut butter and peanut paste produced only by the Peanut Corporation of America at its Blakely, Georgia processing plant. Cedar Lake MGM Foods purchases peanut and peanut butter from PRODUCERS PEANUT CO., INC. FROM SUFFOLK, VA., a company in good standing with FDA. Salmonella is usually found in poultry, eggs, unprocessed milk, and in meat and water. To destroy the bacteria, products should be cooked at temperatures above 140°F/60°C. In the sterilization process of Nuti-Loaf, Nutee Supreme, and Proteinut, these products are cooked at a temperature of 240°F during 133 minutes. This process has been established and is controlled by FDA.
